Care managers experience involuntary loneliness among elderly people (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study analyses the experience that care managers have of involuntary loneliness among elderly people that they meet in their work. Based on their perspective and thoughts regarding risk factors, change, cooperation and aid measures. The study uses a qualitative method through semi structured interviews where eight social workers were interviewed that all work in elderly care.  The material was processed in a thematic analysis where some themes were highlighted related to social work.

The result of the study shows that both men and women suffer from involuntary loneliness among the elderly. They are also affected regardless of background, class, gender or culture. There are various factors that affect their well being. The study also shows that there is a shortage of resources, cooperation, budget, which demands political decision making and engagement from society. All in order to find the right intervention.
