Syftet med denna kvalitativa studie var att undersöka hur olika professioner inom socialt arbete identifierar och hanterar ekonomiskt våld mot äldre personer. Det empiriska materialet samlades in genom semistrukturerade intervjuer med nio yrkesverksamma från olika professioner som arbetar med äldre. Analysen genomfördes med stöd av livsloppsperspektivet och Foucaults teori om disciplinär makt. Analysen mynnade ut i mellan tvekan och handling, så gjorde man förr och när omsorg blir maktspel. Resultatet visar att avsaknaden av tydliga handlingsplaner och verktyg inom organisationerna skapar osäkerhet kring hur ekonomiskt våld bör hanteras. Vidare framkommer att ekonomiskt våld är ett komplext och mångfacetterat fenomen, där gränserna mellan omsorg, kontroll och våld ofta är otydliga. Samtidigt så är de äldre indelade i kategorier där de anses vara "behövande" och "sårbara" och har inte en uppfattning om vad det innebär att någon annan kontrollerar ens ekonomi, vilket bidrar till att våldet både riskerar att förbli osynligt och vara svårt att hantera i praktiken eftersom de är äldre.  

The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate how different professions within social work identify and deal with economic violence against older people. The empirical material was collected through semi-structured interviews with nine professionals from different professions who work with older people. The analysis was conducted with the support of the life course perspective and Foucault's theory of disciplinary power. The analysis resulted in hesitation and action, how it was done in the past, and when care becomes a power game. The results show that the lack of clear action plans and tools within organizations creates uncertainty about how financial abuse should be handled. Furthermore, it appears that financial abuse is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, where the boundaries between care, control, and abuse are often unclear. At the same time, older people are divided into categories where they are considered “needy” and “vulnerable” and do not have a perception of what it means for someone else to control their finances, which contributes to the violence both remaining invisible and being difficult to deal with in practice because they are older.
