Bakgrund: Palliativ vård syftar till att lindra lidande och förbättra livskvaliteten för patienter i livets slutskede. Sjuksköterskor har en central roll i vårdprocessen men möter emotionella och etiska utmaningar. Behovet av stöd, interprofessionellt samarbete och patientcentrerad vård är avgörande för att säkerställa en värdig vård i livets slutskede 

Syfte: Att beskriva sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av att vårda patienter med palliativa vårdbehov i livets slutskede. 

Metod: En kvalitativ litteraturöversikt genomfördes där tio vetenskapliga artiklar analyserades med en induktiv ansats. Data samlades in från CINAHL och PubMed och granskades systematiskt. En tematisk analys användes för att identifiera sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att vårda patienter med palliativa vårdbehov i livets slutskede. 

Resultat: Analysen identifierade fyra huvudteman: emotionella utmaningar, professionella utmaningar, stödstrukturer och holistisk omvårdnad. Sjuksköterskor upplevde känslomässig belastning, compassion fatigue och etiska dilemman, särskilt i kommunikationen med patienter och anhöriga. Resursbrist och hög arbetsbelastning försvårade vården. Kollegialt stöd och interprofessionellt samarbete var avgörande för att hantera utmaningarna. Sjuksköterskor strävade efter att ge holistisk och patientcentrerad vård men upplevde hinder på grund av organisatoriska begränsningar. Behovet av ökad utbildning och strukturerat stöd framkom som centrala faktorer för att förbättra vårdkvaliteten och sjuksköterskors arbetsmiljö i palliativ vård. 

Slutsats: Sjuksköterskor spelar en viktig roll i palliativ vård och möter emotionella och etiska utmaningar i vården av patienter i livets slutskede. Brist på resurser och hög arbetsbelastning påverkar både vårdkvaliteten och sjuksköterskornas välbefinnande. Kollegialt stöd, interprofessionellt samarbete och utbildning är avgörande för att hantera dessa utmaningar och förbättra den palliativa vården. 

Background: Palliative care aims to relieve suffering and improve the quality of life of patients at the end of life. Nurses have a central role in the care process but face emotional and ethical challenges. The need for support, interprofessional collaboration, and patient-centered care is crucial to ensuring dignified end-of-life care. 

Aim: To describe nurses' experiences of caring for patients with palliative care needs at the end of life. 

Method: A qualitative literature review was conducted in which ten scientific articles were analyzed using an inductive approach. Nurses experienced emotional strain, compassion fatigue, and ethical dilemmas, especially in communication with patients and families. Resource shortages and high workload made care difficult. Collegial support and interprofessional collaboration were crucial to address the challenges. Nurses strived to provide holistic and patient-centered care but experienced barriers due to organizational constraints. The need for increased education and structured support emerged as key factors in improving quality care and nurses’ work environment in palliative care. 

Conclusion: Nurses play an important role in palliative care and face emotional and ethical challenges in caring for patients at the end of life. Lack of resources and high workloads affect both the quality of care and nurses' well-being. Collegial support, interprofessional collaboration, and education are essential to address these challenges and improve palliative care.
