The Lords's prayer in the New Testament : analysis and comparison Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4 (English)
Abstract [en]
The Thesis is about the Lord’s Prayer, which is based on ancient prayers and it is a comparison between Matthew and Luke’s versions.
Our father is a prayer that originally emanates from the ancient Jewish tradition where the people of Israel saw God as a father and asked him about everything they needed as well as their daily bread and protection. At that time people usually had continual communication with a higher power. The Old Testament has many examples of the people's way of praying and how God answers their prayers and speaks through the prophets. Already in the Book Of Psalms the prayers have a common structure which was ended with doxology in the same way as the Lord's prayer is today. In the books of the Newtestament we can read a lot of suggestions and examples of prayers to be used in common as well in solitude. Even today a prayer is a reflection of what is most important to focus on in your life right now. It's best done when you hold on and relax. Discipline and continuity is very important. A prayer has to come from the heart and it is a conversion with God, it is a support in your daily life as you can concentrate on what you want and turn away from what's bothering you and disturbing.
